Personal Development Plan (PDP) Feedback – March 22nd 2022

Physical Education 9:00-9:45 am

  • Strong Voice.
  • Asked students for their understanding.
  • Using the whiteboard to explain the game.
  • Ensured questions were answered.
  • Observed and aided students who did not understand.
  • 2 minute warning for students was loud and clear.

My Response

Physed is student centered so I felt like an aid to students instead of the instructor. It was fun to see students enjoy physical activity with the games we played. These notes show my ability to manage the class while still having fun.

Personal Development Plan (PDP) Feedback – March 22nd 2022

Social Studies 2:30-3:30 pm

  • Comedy video to get their attention.  It worked; they were quiet really quick.
  • Shared goals of lesson with students.
  • Voice clear and easy to understand.
  •  Why do you think Crown Corporations are created instead of private one?  You gave an example of this lesson.
  • It would be good to write down the answer on the board as well (some are not great listeners – or plain old ignore what is being said).
  • You circulated.
  • “Pencils down, eyes up here.  They all listened.”
  • Reviewed questions with the students and they all put up their hands to answer.  I was impressed with the answers the students were sharing.
  • Create your own Crown Corporation – lots of info for them projected.    Templates passed out – you circulated.  Most on task (which is great for 3:20pm).

My Response

This feedback allowed me to see the little things I did that were beneficial to the class. It was also beneficial to have the critique about on writing things on the board. I would have liked to have all students on task instead of most, but this lesson was fun as students were engaged.

History 20 9:00-10:02 am

Diagnostic/Formative assessment – 1929 Stock Simulation: students will actively participate in a stock simulation where wealth is created. I will then show the effects of a stock market crash where banks and institutions fail. We will then go over the causes of this in the slideshow. This will give an authentic example of economic failure. Students will be able to live feelings of frustration and connect directly to the course content.

Formative assessment – Exit slip: On a piece of paper, students will tell me three things that they learned today that they feel will be useful to know in future classes. They will also write down at least one question they have. They will hand them to me before they leave class. This will allow students to demonstrate understanding for their own benefit, as well as mine. It will also give them the opportunity to ask any unresolved questions.

Activating and engaging: Our recap of the last class and the “1929 Stock Simulation.”

Discovering and exploring: “1929 Stock Simulation” and the slide show.

Organizing and integrating: Using the slideshow to fill out the exit slip in a meaningful manner.
