Field Experience

The field experience is a perfect way to truly know if teaching is the right career choice for future teachers. It gave me an opportunity to observe present teachers and how they prepare behind the scenes. It also gave me an opportunity to truly process the decision to becoming a future teacher. There is no type of learning that compares to hands-on experiences. I had the opportunity to fully encounter with the students in my classroom and model the type of teacher I want to be. I have taken what I have learned and questioned in lecture and applied it within the classroom.

Through this field experience, I have made the realization that I belong in the teaching profession one-way or another. From the moment I stepped into the school on the first day I felt “at home”. I formed relationships with my placement teacher as well as the children in the classroom. For the short amount of time that I was at the school I find this a huge success. Relationships take time to build and relies on trust. Trust was given to me by my placement teacher and their students. I gave trust to the placement teacher and the students. This created a great working relationship and it will be truly missed on my end. However, I understand that teaching is hard work and not every day will be a good day; not every classroom will be a “perfect” classroom.

I am willing to put hard work into being the best teacher and person that I can each and every day for my students. I hope to inspire children to reach for the stars even when they can’t see past the clouds. I hope to create an environment where all students, teachers, and staff can feel safe with me. I hope to build lasting relationships with my students as well as fellow teachers. I am excited to continue on my journey to becoming an educator. I look forward to changing minds and changing lives.
