I have been subbing in a Developmental Classroom this week so today we made some adorable Grinch art.
All you need:
-Patience
-Green and Red paint
-Paint Brush
Pain the students palm green and the fingers red. Place your hand on the paper. Once dry add a face, and details to the hat!
I have been gone for a while and I acknowledge that but in August I had an amazing experience. At my summer job, we had two customers come to the store, who were both deaf. Long story short, the woman pulled me aside and showed me the pair of shoes she was interested in purchasing. I was nervous but decided to give some of my ASL a go. It was little bits of sign, like black, finger spelling, I am learning sign, and the one I was most proud of was offering to help them carry stuff to their car using the sign for help. I will admit I froze up fingers signing but the fact I tried and she appreciated it was the best part. Definitely, something I was very very proud of. Anyway, let’s get on with the learning. Also took my mask off to help read lips and didn’t get covid whoop whoop.

Wolf: represents the long nose of the wolf
Fox: F sign near the nose moving back and forth
Coyote: finger spell coyote
Squirrel: lightly touch fingers together quickly
Racoon:
Skunk: K sign and move it back over your head to show a stripe
Deer: tap a few times
Moose
Bison
Bear: scratching shoulders
Zoo: fun fact you do not need to double sign O instead move it forward
Lion: pull your hand back like its a mane
Tiger: showing tigers have stripes
Gorilla: pretending to pound the chest
Monkey: this is just a fun sign
Giraffe: U shaped hand showing a long neck
Zebra: repeat the action twice
Hippo: open hands far enough away that it shows how large a hippos mouth is.
Elephant: start at the nose and move in a wave motion to represent the trunk.

Animal: move arms
Pet: like you are petting an animal
Dog: for a more advanced sign, tap the hip followed by the snapping of the fingers
Cat: squeeze and pull to show whiskers

Sheep: moving fingers like scissors to show sheering a sheep. The scissor motion moves up the arm
Goat: letter v from the chin to the forehead
Cow: still my favourite animal
Horse: Repeat the motion as a horse would move their ears
Pig: open and close hand
Chicken: pinching motion
Llama: move the llama as it if is walking
Lamb: sheering a sheep but showing it is small
Foal and Calf: sign baby then the animal

Excited: make sure your face has an exciting expression and tapping the chest
Enjoy: rubbing much like you enjoy something you have eaten.
