Pedagogy
I believe statements:
- I believe everyone should have access to education
- I believe everyone should be accepted in the classroom exactly as they are.
- I believe education should create communities.
- I believe students should have freedom and choice within the classroom.
In my classroom:
- In my classroom no student will be excluded from activities.
- In my classroom students will feel safe and accepted.
Assessment
I believe statements:
- I believe assessment should benefit both students and teachers.
- I believe assessment should be flexible.
In my classroom:
- In my classroom students won’t feel unprepared for assessments.
- In my classroom students will be given choices within their assessments.
Social Justice
I believe statements:
- I believe that social justice issues need to be addressed and discussed in school.
- I believe everyone should be treated equally and should be validated in their identity.
- I believe that being uncomfortable is a sign of learning and growth.
In my classroom:
- In my classroom students will be encouraged to engage in social justice issues and topics.
- In my classroom students will have opportunities to talk about issues that they are interested in or that involve them.
- In my classroom 2SLGBTQIA+ identities will be validated and accepted.
Lifelong Learning
I believe statements:
- I believe things learned in the classroom will be carried out into the real world.
- I believe that teachers are students too.
- I believe that everyone is always learning.
- I believe that teachers are teachers 24/7.
In my classroom:
- In my classroom students will know the ways their education will benefit them outside of the classroom.
- In my classroom I will be open to learning from my students and with my students.
