Together Let’s Teach & Grow

Relating ‘In Search of April Raintree’ and the ‘Anti-Bias Education textbook.’

We see the world pulled apart and torn, Children living life belittled and scorned.  Pulled away from their homes, no sense of belong, Let’s help them out, am I right or wrong?

Let’s teach them ….

We find them good homes, stable and strong, To have them develop, find a place to belong. Let them be them, find out who they are, Encourage them, guide them from near and from far.

Let’s teach them …

They are all unique people, so different, so neat, Let us help them fit in, find the steps in their feet. Steps to be strong and steps to be true, To their culture, their homes, they’re not like me or like you.

Let’s teach them …

They have pride in themselves and where they’ve come from, Take time, give them room when they’re ready they’ll come. They’ll come ask for help and to show you they’re ready, They’ll want to be known, might be slow, but steady.

Let’s teach them …

We welcome their differences, we’ll teach the others, Let them be true to themselves, their sisters and brothers. Don’t try to change them to who you think they should be, Teach them and love them, they’re different you see.

Let’s teach them …

They’re not different from us in their home or their space, Only their background, their culture, beliefs and race. They want to be part though, just like everyone else, It’s not up to them, welcome them yourself.

Let’s teach them …

We can show them we’re happy, we can welcome them in, Teach them, encourage them, find a place to begin. If we start on the right foot, give them a place to belong, They can adapt, be stable, be confident, be strong.

Let them teach us
