My Journey

Well, here I am! A blog was something I thought I would never start. While I use the internet often, I do not share about myself on it. I have no forms of social media and prefer to have face to face conversations. Therefore, I never understood the reason everyone has social media. I mean, EVERYONE. When I tell people that I do not, they cannot comprehend what I do all day. Until this year I have never felt the need to have it, it seemed like a waste of time and I do not like the idea of comparing myself to others, which I felt would happen if I had social media. However, this year I became a BEAD student at the University of Regina. This means I am enrolled at the Faculty of Education for a Bachelor of Education after degree. Through this, I have learned the importance of technology and how amazing it is in connecting people. I have learned that it is not about comparing myself to others, but connecting with others, building relationships and sharing a little bit about who I am. Therefore, I like the idea of having a blog.  Recently, I  had the opportunity to attend the Saskatchewan Middle Years Association conference. A woman by the name of Pernille Ripp was a speaker. She was incredible and showed me what a disservice I am doing to my students if I do not use technology.

This semester I am in my pre-internship. It has been an incredible experience that has taught me so much. I want to share my stories and explain just how excited I am to begin my journey and complete my dream of being a future educator.

I am excited to begin sharing my educational journey with the internet. Welcome to my little space on the internet, I hope we can connect!

About Ashley

Hi! My name is Ashley Wilmot. I am currently an education student in my third year at the University of Regina. I am an after degree student with a previous Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Sociology. I love school! Everything about school makes me happy from the relationships we build to the amount of knowledge I have gained; it has changed the person I am today. I cannot wait to be a part of changing the lives of my future students. I was born and raised in Regina. Regina is a very special place for me as it holds so many memories. However, I would also be excited to teach other places and grow who I am as a person away from the only place I have ever lived. I am looking forward to where this crazy life takes me and I know I will always have my very favorite people (my family) by my side supporting me every step of the way.
