One of my highlights this semester is all the different experiences we got to go to as a group of middle years students. From going to Connaught Elementary School to the Middle Years Conference, to even the experience of our first classroom experience, it was a big year.
Dr. McNeil, who is my ELNG 310 professor taught us that has taught us about how important it is for us to have experiences with our students. This is called the language experience approach. It allows students to develop a common language with each other, therefore building relationships. Building relationships are something that comes up often in my studies this semester and I am realizing just how important this is.
Anyways, after Dr. McNeil explained the Language Experience Approach to us, we created a fruit salad together. We created a language together and had so much fun doing it. Below is a picture of what our fruit salad looked like in the end, as well as a picture one of my fellow classmates cutting up our ingredients for the salad.
