Technology is something that is a big part of my life. I don’t think I have ever thought about how much I rely on technology. I think this is relatable for many people, especially students like myself. I use my laptop for notes during all my classes and sometimes I use my phone to access class readings. In my personal life I rely on my phone for a lot of things. I use my phone to communicate with friends and family, I use my phone for directions on how to get around the city, I even use my phone as an alarm clock for when I need to go to school.
I’m now just realizing that technology may be a distraction in my life. There are many times where I have gone on my phone instead of working on homework or even cleaning my room/living space. I think my phone has made me lazy in my personal life and academic life
In my daily life I use many apps like snapchat, facebook, instagram and tik toc. I mostly use these apps for entertainment and communication with friends and family. Though I don’t really share my life through these apps with the general public. I use some apps for academic purposes like google docs and chrome. For school most of my work is done on my computer on online platforms to take notes and complete assignments for my classes. My main source for school work is google docs. I like this online site because it is easy to create documents. Google Docs also allows me to access my documents from different devices which I find handy just in case I need to login to access my document from a friend’s device.
To balance my screen time for academic purposes and personal well-being I usually set certain times to work on homework. I work on homework in the afternoons. I will admit though I’m not always focused on my schoolwork and often pick up my phone to go on social media. This got me thinking that I might have some boundaries when it comes to my academics. I think that if I put my phone in another room while I work I might be more productive.
When thinking about my daily routines with technology I realize that I use technology in almost every aspect of my life. Technology does help me with my school work and with entertainment when I’m not busy.

I can totally relate to how technology is both a help and a distraction! Google Docs is definitely a lifesaver as I used as a teacher for even my lesson plan draft, I also use my phone for everything from communication to entertainment. I agree with you on the importance of setting boundaries to stay focused. Putting the phone in another room is a simple but effective trick I’ve used too that I am going to use going forward.

Hello!
I completely relate to you with getting distracted so easily by technology, it’s something I am trying to get better at! It is very easy to get sucked into scrolling on your phone for way longer than you planned to. On the other hand though, it has also helped me so much in getting through university and I feel as though I have learned so many ways for it to make my life easier. I also love using google docs! It’s so easy to work on and I love that I can download it on my phone and also access my documents from there.
Hello Nadia,
As I was reading your blog post, I couldn’t help but reflect on the countless ways I use technology in my daily life as well. When I came across your paragraph where you mentioned, “In my personal life, I rely on my phone for a lot of things. I use my phone to communicate with friends and family, I use my phone for directions on how to get around the city, I even use my phone as an alarm clock for when I need to go to school,” I realized that I rely on my phone in all of these same ways.
It’s truly eye opening to think about how often we use our phones throughout the day and for what purposes. Your post was incredibly relatable, and I really liked your suggestion of putting your phone in a different room during work time…maybe I’ll give it a try (no promises, though! Lol). Overall, you made some great points and connections. Very relatable post. Keep up the great work!
