OSnap! – New App I’m Using!

  • This week I decided to experiment with time lapse because I knew nothing about it. I went on my phone and looked up a time lapse app and found OSnap!. This app was easy enough to use but i think for anyone else that wanted to use this app a phone stand would be nice. I wanted to show in my video the progress I was making but the only problem I had was that I didn’t have anything to set my phone on. The video that i made was a little off just because my phone wasn’t in the same spot each time.

  • I think this app would be cool to use in the classroom to track the student progress with a project. Like if they had a plant unit and they were growing their own plant I think this app could encourage the students to take a picture everyday. At the end of the unit the kids could watch their plants grow. In the SAMR model I think this app could be modification because the students will be creating a time lapse video to understand the process of something. In this example they will understand how a plant grows.
  • For my learning project I decided to do a waffle stitch dishcloth. I used a site called easy crochet and I also watched a youtube video to fully understand the different stitches used in this pattern. I learned two new stitches which were double crochet and post double crochet. I think this dishcloth turned out better then my last attempt. I think the video helped me to see what I needed to do.
  • When looking at the easy crochet site was a good site to know what my dish cloth would look like. The site would also be good for instructions and the learning the pattern for this cloth. The video I watched also had good instructions on how to do the stitches but I would have liked if they showed the pattern before the video or wrote out the pattern. When learning I like to have written out instructions for my own reference. Though the video helps with the visual aspect of my learning.

  1. That looks like a really cool app Nadia! Using a time lapse is a really great tool to show your process of crocheting instead of just showing a still photo of your finished product. This type of video allows us to see your work in real time as you continue to work on it.

  2. Hi Nadia! Your cloth looks great. I like that you used OSnap to document your progress. I’m planning to use TikTok to create a timelapse of my crocheting. Maybe I can try the app you used to compare the two platforms. Also, I checked out the website you linked and it contains a lot of useful information! As far as the SAMR model goes, I would say that this app also falls into the augmentation category, as it is replacing a traditional oral or written presentation of their learnings with a new technology. My question is, how do you think we can bring this strategy to the next level of the SAMR model?

  3. So cool! Using the time lapse was definitely helpful on seeing the progress on how you were crocheting. The final product looks great! I definitely agree on the student project aspect of the app. Having a biology class pot beans and making a time lapse of the sprouts would be really beneficial!

  4. Hi Nadia, using osnap to experiment with time-lapse is a fantastic method to visually record progress. You draw attention to a crucial factor: maintaining a steady setting for consistency, such as a phone stand. The innovative idea of using this software in the classroom to monitor tasks, like plant development, has the potential to increase student engagement and reflection.

  5. I love how you took the initiative to experiment with time-lapse, even though it was something new for you. It’s interesting how you pointed out the importance of a phone stand – that’s something I hadn’t thought of before, but I can see how it would make a big difference in keeping your shots consistent. Your idea of using OSnap! in the classroom is fantastic, especially for tracking progress over time. The plant growth example is perfect, and I can see how students would be motivated to capture each stage of their project. I’m really impressed by your learning project with the waffle stitch dishcloth! Great work!!!!

  6. Osnap is reeally sick, I have had students use it in the past to do stop-motion animation and its pretty cool what they can do with it.
