Journey to Reconciliation Essay

Conclusion

As I am growing up, I’m realizing that my journey to reconciliation is important. Knowing and learning about truth and reconciliation is a topic that everyone should learn. The role of a teacher is to spread awareness and inspire students to have their own journey to reconciliation. I think that it is important for teachers to have open minds when teaching about truth and reconciliation to lead students in the right direction. One of the big factors that opened my eyes about Indigenous learning was going into a catholic school and the school trying to incorporate some of the Indigenous teachings in the classroom. Learning that some teachings are the same and the school is trying to make an effort for the students get a chance to learn about Indigenous history and learning. I know that throughout the year I had learned a lot about Indigenous learning and history, but I know that my journey is not done. A journey to reconciliation isn’t something I can get done in a certain amount of time, it’s a never-ending journey that I will take with me throughout my career.
