Students at the University of Regina are calling on the school and provincial government to “freeze the fees” on international student tuition.“The fees since then have gone up 25 percent, and that’s just in two years,”
I’m hoping that some significant changes will occur for students. We wish to study, but only if the tuition fees are reasonable. I believe that a balance should be struck, and I concur that both international and domestic students require these changes.
My name is Nadiya Ekhteraeetoussi and I am originally from Iran. I am a Ph.D. student in educational leadership. I received a BA in “English Translation Studies,” and my first-class honours as a top student qualified me for unconditional admission to the university’s MA programme in TEFL. While teaching and educational leadership appear to be similar in context (both take place in schools), they are distinct in content and complement one another.
I’ve worked as an educational supervisor, educational manager, school administrator, teacher trainer, and classroom teacher since 2008. I currently work as a technical assistant, teacher assistant, and research assistant at the University of Regina. I used to be a member of the executive committee for conferences and congresses in my native country. Additionally, as a member of linguistic and training organizations, I have participated in a variety of volunteer activities for women, disabled children, and orphanages. I’ve worked in a variety of different schools and language institutions, both near and far, to hone my skills. I have passed and held numerous training courses, including the Frisby’s College of London Teaching Diploma (2016), Supervisor Training Course Certificate (2019), TTC Trainer (2016–2020), IELTS (2020), and Certificate of in-service Teaching Skills (2013), as well as participating in the TELLSI International Conference as a member of the Conference Organizing Committee, both during and after my graduation.
The point is that throughout these years and now, I have worked in the educational system, primarily in leadership positions. I will continue to be interested in these related fields.
A creative strategic administrator with 12 years of experience in education and leadership. Capable of establishing positive relationships with others and working cooperatively in a team setting. I am an activist in the areas of women’s rights, anti-racism, and religion.

I am an active member of the URSU board of directors ( University of Regina Student Union). I previously served on the faculty of education’s board of directors and was elected vice president of external affairs during the spring election. It’s an exciting and challenging responsibility for me, and I’m required to work even harder because of the critical decisions we may make on behalf of students. As an international student, I’ve decided to stand for election in order to advocate for both international and domestic students. I’d like to be a part of a larger community and work more closely with URSU. Interacting with people from all over the world who have a variety of different brains, cultures, and religious beliefs is also an unfamiliar and challenging experience. Adjustments to the education department and to the students are one method I would like to see implemented. With a large number of undergraduate and graduate students, the education faculty is a significant part of the University of Regina. I’d also like to demonstrate that there are no distinctions between international and domestic students. Each of us has the opportunity to collaborate on university and community-related issues. There is no discrimination here. There must be several additional comparable flaws, issues, or conflicts that we must resolve individually or collaboratively. Then I’m hoping I can do it effectively.
