My doctoral research focuses on women’s support and improving the quality of life for women, particularly students.
I was given the opportunity to lead and organize the working group of immunocompromised women students. Both students who deal with these difficulties and specialists were invited to participate in this working group. We got the opportunity to discuss their issues and how the university, as an effective institution, might assist them. Although this event occurred months ago and I am only now posting about it, I am grateful for the beneficial role I had in helping immunocompromised students and intend to continue doing so in the future.

EDIA Committee

Because EDIA-related issues are required for students, I am extremely pleased to announce that we have been running the EDIA committee again since October 2022, with students as members and me as the chair of this committee. Following this committee, I could lead the “EDIA and women problems in the workplace” round table and also co-host the “EDIA and health outcome panel discussion”. We have many interesting issues to discuss and numerous relevant challenges for students that concern the EDIA. The members explore how we may make the EDIA more powerful in diverse contexts by sharing their opinions and experiences.
The collaboration of student advocates and the advocacy team has made this work more effective. Thank you so much URSU for all the help!

Summer welcome week.

I participated in Welcome Week in the Summer of 2022 as the vice president of external affairs at the University of Regina Student Union. We could design a terrific unforgettable fall welcome week for both newcomers students and other students as a team that included executives, an event and maintenance team, advocacy and communication members, and many many more teams and individuals. We make every effort to make it as entertaining as possible. I also proposed organizing URSU Got Talent, which was well received by students. We also arranged a movie night, a concert, and other activities. I believe that without teamwork, this vent would not have been feasible.

Indigenous Day

We reside in Canada, which is the land of Indigenous peoples. I believe indigenous people to be extraordinarily kind and courageous. I appreciate that their culture is rich in symbols, totems, rituals, and traditional beliefs. I’ve always been interested in learning more about them, and now I have the opportunity to do so in Saskatchewan. I still have much to learn about Indigenous, but I am aware that I should respect this:

TERRITORIAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

“The Students’ Union of the University of Regina Inc. is situated on and operates on Treaty 4 lands with a presence in Treaty 6. These are the territories of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis/Michif Nation. Today, these lands continue to be the shared Territory of many diverse peoples from near and far.”

Pride Events & Pancake Party

Ursu is excited to host pride events and partner with UR Pride as part of Pride Month today.  It is vital that we all have the opportunity to share our challenges, worries, concerns, and happiness with one another. June is both pride month and Indigenous heritage month. It’s important that more than words, we work together to work towards liberation from homophobia, transphobia, colonialism, racism and other forms of discrimination. We also must recognize that these identities are intersectional.URSU for a long time has needed to do more work with regard to equity and supporting the diverse communities that make up the student body, and URSU’s membership. Equality and freedom from discrimination are fundamental human rights that belong to all individuals, regardless of our identities. We hope to continue to grow and learn together and work together to make real change in the University of Regina community.

VP External affairs at University of Regina students’ Union(URSU)

Hello, students! I am the Vice President of External Affairs, and my name is Nadiya (she/her). I was an active URSU board member as Director of Education last year. I have multiple local, regional, provincial, and national ties to numerous Saskatchewan student and Regina-based communities. My outlook for the coming year is one of friendship, cultivation, and commitment; public affairs; collaborations; and philanthropic zeal. This year, I am focusing on identifying opportunities for student involvement in advocacy, events, entertainment, and committees.

In addition, I am a Researcher and Educational Leadership Ph.D. student in my second year. I am an experienced teacher and educational supervisor, as well as a member of the executive committee for conferences and congresses. Strong emphasis in my studies is placed on EDIA and women’s fields, as well as charitable organizations, single parents, orphanages, and child care. I am also interested in and have participated in volunteer work and assistance for students’ dignity and well-being. I enjoy reading and spending time with my family during my free time. As a Saskatchewan resident, I reside in Treaty 4 territory.

You can contact me via email at vpext@ursu.ca or at the URSU office with any questions or requests for assistance.

Education Day of Action

As Vice President of External Affairs, I am required to attend various meetings, gatherings, protests, and parades. As a representative of students, or perhaps communities, I should be an active member. On May 10, I participate in the “CUPE Education Day of Action” in front of Regina’s Legislative Building. It was an objection to Saskatchewan’s inadequate educational system. It was impressive despite the fact that many experienced or near-retirement-age teachers, administrators, and school members complained about the conditions. The negative impact of pandemonium on educational quality necessitates fundamental changes for the welfare of school members and students. As a student of Educational Leadership, I also found the discussions to be quite engaging. I hope that this educational community will take some very effective steps.

Ramadan

I was honoured to volunteer to assist with Iftar on four Fridays during Ramadan. I enjoy assisting and serving others. It was truly fascinating and spiritually uplifting. Additionally, there were numerous food and beverage options, and it was extremely satisfying when I was able to assist Muslims who were fasting and breaking their fast after a long day. It was a pleasant experience. I would like to express our gratitude to the University of Regina Student Union.

Racism & discrimination

I attended the Racism and Discrimination Summit on Friday, April 29th, 2022. I liked it, and from my perspective, I could also express my true feelings. There were numerous new ideas to share, and I met a number of new people, including Mayer “Sandra Masters” and “Pauline Streete,” both of whom I found to be strong, successful women who were truly inspirational. I’d like to attend more of these meetings because they bring together a diverse group of people and races who freely discussed a variety of topics.
