Classroom Reflections #3

January 24, 2024

  1. Topics/activities that initiated my reflection – Activities 2 and 3 were the most influential for me this week, because I liked the focus on Bloom’s Taxonomy.  Activity 2 was the Simpler and More Complex Content with applying Bloom’s Taxonomy.  I’ve seen Bloom’s Taxonomy before but I haven’t compared it to situations until this activity.  I feel more familiar with how Bloom’s Taxonomy works.  For Activity 3, this was the Creating Questions Using Bloom’s Recording Sheet.  I liked this activity because it furthered my understanding of Bloom’s Taxonomy by creating sentences, it was helpful for knowing the different stages within the theory.
  2. Content connections: academic knowledge, “educational” experiences & perspectives on assessment material – In previous University classes I’ve been introduced to Bloom’s Taxonomy.  For myself it was useful getting more familiar with this understanding of how learners develop and how to assess upon that.
  3. Inform & influences for future teaching (need/ learn more about) – The Bloom’s Taxonomy prompts handout I believe will become a resource that I view as useful with further my understandings of knowing and applying these different stages to my future teachings.  This handout with be helpful for forming lessons and developing assessments.  Also the Bloom Triangle will be helpful for referencing the visual of this educational theory.
  4. SYMBOL: reminder of reflection – The symbol I choose this week is Freud’s Iceberg Theory.  I feel that understanding how to best assess a student is tying in more theories that can help with forming assessments.  With my new understandings of Bloom’s Taxonomy being a learning theory within education, I feel that Freud’s Iceberg Theory can also be added into the foundation of forming our assessments.  As we get more insight into learners within the classroom – the more we can use our theories to best support them.
