Deutsch Land- Gateway to New Opportunities (3)

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to Deutsch Land, in this journey with all of you guys I realized and feel motivated that you all are struggling as well as enjoying learning the different skills which is so inspiring. Therefore, I also decided to learn the journey of the German language with the days of the week, in Germany, it is known as ” Wochentage”

 Montag Monday
 Dienstag Tuesday
 Mittwoch Wednesday
Donnerstag Thursday
Freitag Friday
Samstag Saturday
 Sonntag Sunday

Knowing the days of week in German are crucial steps and how to speak out are the important steps in our language journey. One more thing I would like to share that the word “Tag” means day, as all the other days end with the tag except “Wednesday” which is called “Mittwoch” the word simply means- midweek. Moreover, “Sunday” in German is Sonntag and it comes from Sonne, which is the German word for “Sun”. So Sonntag is literally “Sun-day”.

The more we practice usibg new words in different contexts, the more confident and comfortable  we will become in the conservations because german language has unique sounds which need lots of patience and practice so practice is essential because it helps to reinforce that what we learn and to make the conversation more natural.

  1. that is amazing Nancy!
I found the link very resourceful.
but I would like to know how easy was it for you to get the pronunciations right or you did not struggle with it.

    • Hello Georgina, I am really glad you found the link helpful!

Honestly, the pronunciations weren’t the easiest at first—especially sounds like “ch” in Mittwoch or the rolled “r” in Freitag. German has some unique sounds that take practice.
Since I know pronunciation can be tricky for learners I was feeling nervous to make a video that I can misspell the words, but I actually tried making a short video for my next blog to help with this, Hopefully, it will make it easier for others to pick up.
      thank you Georgina, Stay tuned!
