About Me

I come from a large family made up of both blood relatives and a lot of step siblings/parents. From a young age I developed a strong sense of independence and a great work ethic. I have many passions in life apart from my education, some being; snowboarding, baking, music, and most of all soccer. I am a member of the Women’s Soccer Team here at the University and I am so lucky to say that they are my second family, making my transition of moving away from home for post-secondary a walk in the park.

I began learning what it means to be a good and honest leader through activities like coaching youth soccer, and joining all of my High Schools’ leadership opportunities. This attribute will help me in my future classrooms to create an open door policy so that students are comfortable with asking for help when they are struggling.

A huge role model for me has always been my grandma, she was a teacher her entire life and has played a large role in inspiring me to do the same. What set her apart was her compassion for students as a whole, always adapting to students’ different learning needs. She specialized in special education for the majority of her career. I have many fond memories of when I was a little kid tagging along on her visits to see her old students in their care homes, long after she was retired. This goes to show that she understood teaching as a job that continues outside of the classroom. I hope to adopt her morals and strong sense of self into my own classroom.
