Week 4: New Learnings with Traditions and Tastes!
Since we had to use an app that we’d never used before, for this week’s post I decided I would attempt to use iMovie . In high school if we had the option to use some sort of online tool I had always used canva so I decided this would be the perfect time to try out something new. In high school lots of my friends had used iMovie for projects and presentations so I figured It seemed like a simple concept: just record and take pictures on your camera roll. Combine what you want into the video, edit and post. I then found out you can add voice records overtop of your iMovie and even add text, filters and many more options. After figuring out how to use iMovie I did a practice one with random pictures just to test out how to add things in and what I can all do to it. Then I combined the videos and photos from this weeks learning projectÂ
For my learning project I wanted to make some sort of dish from another culture, after some research I thought making butter chicken and naan bread would be pretty easy to replicate especially since I don’t usually try foods I’m unfamiliar with so I thought this would be an easy start. Butter Chicken and naan bread are, from my understanding, a popular Indian dish. Of course it wouldn’t be exactly the same but I was hoping to be able to make the sauce myself. After looking through multiple recipes there were many ingredients that I wasn’t able to get easily from a local grocery store, I possibly would’ve had to order some from somewhere or would’ve had to find a different place that would sell the certain ingredients I did not have. I didn’t really have the time or money to spend on one meal to try so I concluded it would be easiest to use a store bought butter chicken sauce so that is what I did. First I made the naan bread which I made from scratch and it was pretty simple, though for my first try it definitely didn’t turn out perfect but it still tasted good lol. The recipe I followed for the naan bread was pretty simple to use, after making the bread I cut up 2 chicken breasts, cooked them and then after they were fully cooked I added the sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes. While cooking the chicken I made some rice to go with the butter chicken. The full iMovie video is below for you to now watch!
Even though I wasn’t able to make everything from scratch it was still a good meal to make and having never tried butter chicken before it was actually really good. I enjoyed this week from my learning project as I learned a few things about foods in other cultures and got to taste a new food that I had never had before which was so good!! Now that I’ve tried butter chicken it would be cool to find where to get the ingredients to make the sauce myself since I know I like it and I could even find other recipes to make with the same ingredients!
Hi Olivia,
iMovie is such a great and easy app to use when creating a video like this! I love the background music you added into your movie. Your food also looks soooo tasty!
