Week 11: Summary of Learning Project
My learning project I had created many meals and deserts that I had never tried before or even heard of. I spent a lot of time searching for cool things to try and having to go out and shop for groceries if I didn’t already have the ingredients. I really enjoyed the process of my learning project and although I still have so much learning to do I have improved in so many ways with my cooking and baking skills.
Week 1 – Introductory/ Exploring Learning project Ideas
I had decided to do my learning project on cooking and baking because I wanted to expand my skills and learn how to make new recipes.
Week 2 – Lasagna Soup and Buffalo Cauliflower Bites
From this week I had pushed myself to try a new soup and took my time to create a few things this week. I had found I would have to put aside a few hours for when I want to try new recipes as I wasn’t used to making things very quickly.
Week 3 – Cinnamon Buns and Chicken, Broccoli, Gnocchi recipe
My second week I decided to make cinnamon buns which took quite a while to make but I enjoyed it. I then made a meal for supper that was out of my comfort zone and had never really seen or heard of and had so much fun trying it out!
Week 4 – Butter chicken and Naan bread
I had done this recipe to explore a new culture of foods. I enjoyed getting to do some research and learning more about different kinds of foods.
Week 5 – Buffalo Chicken Dip
Making this dip was fairly simple. I had made it for a bunch of friends to try and everyone loved it. I ended up giving the recipe out to my sister, roommate and mom and they all had made it themselves after I made it and they loved it!
Week 6 – Cheeseburger soup
Making this was a lot of prep work but in the end it was worth it, this soup I had found using a new app that I downloaded called Yummly which I then used again in later weeks!
Week 7 – Oreo Cheesecake Bites
These were a hit for sure, my whole family ended up eating a bunch of them and I still have lots left over in the freezer for Christmas. They were fairly easy to make and I would definitely try out more cheesecake recipes again!
Week 8 – Chicken Enchilada Soup
I found this recipe on TikTok while searching for recipes to make in a crockpot. I realized how many different things that can be made in a crockpot and how simple they can be!
Week 9 – Chocolate Eclair dessert
I made this dessert for my dads birthday. Since it didn’t have to be baked it was very easy to put together and was sooo good. I had given out the recipe to some family members and friends because I had a lot of people who had really enjoyed it!
Week 10 – Mongolian Beef and Broccoli Parmesan bites
For the very last week of making food I made Mongolian beef which originated in Taiwan and it was very good. I found by this week I had gotten a lot faster when making meals. It didn’t take as much time to make everything as it did when I first started my project!
In the end I think this learning project helped me not be scared to try new things because I find cooking and baking actually pretty simple and it’s always going to be a learning process.
Every time I made something I found a few things I loved and a few things I could do differently and it was fun to try things I had never made or even heard of before. I also was able to use different resources and apps to help me find recipes to try which I enjoyed. In the end I noticed I got quicker when making meals and also helped my habit of eating out all the time as I had the expectation to make home cooked meals for my project so I would say my learning project even though I will continue after this class was a huge success for me!!
