Technology and my daily Tech apps!!

There is not a single day where I don’t use technology.

Technology is the most essential part of my life. I wake up by looking at my phone and sleep while looking at my phone. For me, it has both advantages and disadvantages which makes it impossible to be away from it.

For me, I usually use the apps that are meant for leisure only. Most often I use Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Spotify and Freenotes app. For me to be socially connected and feeling some cool of time I use Instagram, Spotify and Snapchat. YouTube is a combination of both educational and leisure time. But from the social applications I use for education, other than the web page of my school, I engage in only Freenotes for education in checking on my assignments and my grades. My daily reference tool especially for monitoring exercises, assignments and time is in Freenotes. I apply it in academics since it allows me to compile all the notes, to-do list and my timetables. But there are few features that I think are very helpful, one of them is ability to turn on sync and reminders so that I do not forget important tasks. I also use it on large projects where I pre-scope the project into components; this way, I can concentrate and work within the set time frame.

At the same time, I have found IT-related diversions I have come across. Instagram and YouTube can instantly lure one into consuming material that isn’t helpful. I’ve made it a tradition to limit the usage of these apps or use apps like Focus Mode which freezes during study times. This has been useful in cutting down on distractions though it has not been effectively mastered.

I am conscious about the timing spent on academics on the screen and the leisure time for myself. It is still a relevant strategy because I have learned to differentiate and limiting different things such as break time or going offline. This is all helpful though it helps with avoiding fatiguing and ensures I’m not constantly sitting and glued to a screen. Also, I try to focus on present time by listening to music on Spotify or writing something by hand, without using a computer.

I have a bad habit of leaving things for the last minute, but I am improving myself to send my assignments or done with my readings almost a day before.  I hope the challenge I have given myself to reduce my screen time by the end of year will be a success.
