Enriching flavors of sarson da saag !!
As the winter season is already here, so I decided to make the authentic Indian winter recipe. For this week’s learning project I made Sarson da saag.(Mustard green dish). Sarson da Saag is one of the favorite Punjabi dish which can be described as the reflection of richness of Indian cuisine. With lot of mustard greens (sarson ka saag), spinach, fenugreek and other green leaves this spicy accompaniment is delicious and filling. Perfectly cooked in low heat, the greens are infused with ginger, garlic, green chilly, and the sprinkle of assorted spices giving the meal creamy consistency and strong deep flavors. Local people relish this with a spoonful of fresh white butter and enjoy this healthy recipes all together during winter with makki ki roti. The main ingredients made from mustard leaves are rich in nutrients and give it the authentic taste. When it comes to flavors, it has deeper tastes that really burst on the palate and the preparation is so simple that this food can be enjoyed by all, really it brings the ‘Punjab’ to every table. I tried this recipe but failed while making it in between. Therefore, I decided to buy the pre packaged meal in the Asian grocery store. I did some modification according to my taste and it turned out better.
Following is the video that inspired me to make this dish:
This is the end result of my dish:
