Teaching Philosophy

I believe that the role of the teacher is to shape students’ lives and aim to create a meaningful classroom experience. I aspire to teach with compassion, provide support and encouragement, and strive to have a lasting positive impact. I advocate for anti-racist, culturally responsive, and gender-friendly pedagogies. These approaches are crucial in fostering an environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.

I prioritize building authentic and strong teacher-student relationships and creating a positive and sustainable learning environment. I pay close attention to students’ individual needs, abilities, and learning styles to ensure that everyone feels valued and supported.

My goal as a Teacher is to engage, build confidence, and encourage responsibility in each student. I value diversity and believe inclusivity is essential. Education should teach critical thinking and character development. I challenge the status quo of my students to inspire them for a better future.

As educators, it is vital that we are part of the process of reconciliation and we will work with all stakeholders to support the implementation of the recommendations of the commission. (Elliott P, 2014) Working towards reconciliation is an ongoing commitment for me. I acknowledge that there is much more for me to learn about Treaties, Indigenous cultures, and Truth and Reconciliation. As an immigrant, I understand my responsibility to educate myself, my students, and those around me about the significance of Treaties and the need for reconciliation. I accept that this cycle ought, to begin with self-schooling as an educator and go on inside the classroom to bring issues to light about the connection between Canada and Native people groups.

Teaching is not only limited to the classroom but extends to inspiring students to love learning and making each day of school count. I am passionate about ensuring that students feel valued, respected, and recognized for their importance in society. For me, teaching is about supporting my students to achieve their best.
