Journey Towards Reconciliation

My Treaty 4 statement:

On my journey towards reconciliation, I learnt many things about Indigenous history. The thing that interests me the most is the stories about residential schools told by the survivors and the people impacted. Teaching everyone that healing is not just Indigenous peoples doing it themselves, but all of us coming together to help with the journey towards healing. It is about non-Aboriginal people respecting Indigenous peoples. Residential Schools are horrible and shameful. Residential School students suffer from various things while attending these schools. Survivors, as well as families and communities, suffer from the trauma.

For my aesthetic representation, I created a puzzle of what needs to be done to help with the journey. A puzzle because everything has to come together to fit in the healing process. When one puzzle piece is missing, the puzzle is not complete; when one is missing, the healing journey will not continue. These puzzle pieces represent a piece of healing.
