About Me

Hi, my name is Rami Bakfalouni, and welcome to my e-portfolio! I was born and raised in Aleppo, the second-largest city in Syria. When the war began I fled with my wife and one-year-old daughter to Egypt, I stayed there for about a year, then, I continued my career in Qatar for four years, and eventually, I came to Canada in 2017. I landed in St. John’s NL, but when I got a job opportunity as an Arabic instructor in Regina I moved there and started teaching Arabic in Regina Huda School for four years.

The first time I entered a class as a sub teacher was in 2004 after getting my bachelor degree in Arabic literature. I enjoyed every single moment of almost 16 years of teaching. I taught Arabic for middle years students, high school students, for native speakers, and non-native speakers, and what I enjoyed the most is getting to know students from different backgrounds and cultures, I’ve learned a lot from each students and appreciate the time I spent with them. During my blessing career, I continued my education and I got my Master’s degree in pre-Islamic poetry in 2013 from the University of Aleppo just before leaving Syria.

My journey in learning didn’t stop there. Since I’ve reached Canada I dreamed of having Canadian education and pursuing additional knowledge to add to my career. Therefore, I joined BEd MMY (6-9) After Degree program at the U of R. I think this is a noticeable change in my career, now I’m learning something new every moment including the Saskatchewan curriculum that I need to be aware of.

Yes, this is the journey of teaching, one cannot stop learning, as long as life goes on

During my free time, I read a lot with my daughter Julie, also, I enjoy jogging, hiking, playing soccer, badminton, ping pong, and chess.

In this picture, you can see me, my wife Kholoud, and our daughter Julie.
