My Experience of Using Technology in the Classroom
Many years ago when I started teaching high school Mathematics, I was enjoying the traditional way of presenting a lesson using “chalk and board talk”. It’s just amazing learning atmosphre how students participate actively and orally in my lessons. Years passed by, school administraion had began introducing teaching tools that enhanced learning. So then, we were given training suport by our IT in the school. Since then, I have been using technology in my teaching for some years now. I began using projectors, CPU’s, and tablets in my classroom to facilitate learning which were all provided by our school. This allowed my students to access online resources such as videos, audio, and other electronic media. I also found that the use of technology in the classroom allowed me to provide a more interactive learning experience by engaging my students in virtual discussions and hands-on activities. Technology also allowed them to submit completed tasks on paperless methods. This was a very insensitive day-to-day academic life, especially in the peak time of Covid-19.
I am really enjoying the use of technology in the classroom that gives me the opportunity to introduce my students to the world of many learning opportunities. This allowed them to gain a better understanding of the technology behind their regular activities, quizzes and assessments. My students were able to apply what they have learned especially in their Math problem solving and at the same learning this subject as second language learners.
Thank you very much to “incorporating technology” into my teaching that allowed me to stay connected to my students, school adminstration and staff. I trully appreciate that using technology in the classroom is incredibly giving me rewarding experiences. It has allowed me to provide all my students with a more engaging and interactive learning journey until this moment.
That’s a solid background Rams, thanks for sharing. I agree that technology brings the world to the students without them having to leave a classroom, but the two experiences are so vastly different. Looking forward to the semester!
