It is important to teach First nations, Metis, and Inuit perspectives because they have a huge part in Canadas culture and history. If we leave their perspective out we are allowing room for ignorance and assumptions. Canadas past present and future are much closer than what we may think. The more we educate students on First nations, Metis, and Inuit perspectives regardless if those students are in the class. We learn about other world views even if those students aren’t in the classroom. Its especially important for students to have knowledge about the land they are on. Just like any other history is needs to be taught and examined and critically thought about it.
