Is coding fun? No. Is it important?? Yes!
I used Hour of Code to create a google logo. I made the letters frogs and had fun playing around with it, but I have never enjoyed coding. My computer science classes in university were some of my least favourite and although I recognize that these are important things to be teaching kids I can’t frankly get the appeal. I do think that coding is an important skill to have some awareness for at the very least. I taught with the Edison robots in one of my field placements and the kids really seemed to enjoy using them. I think that coding (like any other class) is a topic that people either enjoy or not. The activities were very different in terms of possible topics so that would be good for getting kids interested in coding. I was able to choose so many different things about my logo including sounds, colours, shapes and even how the letters moved!

Your title is hilarious haha. Getting back to your post though. Your blog post offers a personal perspective on coding, acknowledging both its challenges and its importance. By sharing your experiences and practical examples, you provide valuable insights and encouragement for readers and me to explore coding, regardless of our or their initial interest.
Hey Sarah,
I loved how you gave truthful but insightful thoughts about coding! I loved your idea of changing the Google logo to frogs because that is a solid memory of mine of always seeing the different Googles that were created at the homepage for different events throughout the year. I can totally see this frog themed Google being used for something frog related!
Hi, Sarah! It’s interesting to see another option from the Hour of Code program. Great title, too lol!
