WEEK THREE…

This week we were not so much in the classroom because it was Pink Day at the school. My partner and I helped with the Pink Day bake sale. We did not get the opportunity to do this with our class, but the teacher of the classroom I was placed in was also the teacher in charge of the Students Leadership Committee (SLC). So, instead of being with her classroom students, we got the opportunity to get more involved with her extracurricular students. This was a highlight for me because it was the students who got to teach me how their school operated activities like that. The time that I did get in the classroom taught me a lot and I was very proud of these students. The teacher read a book on black slavery and a lot of the students remembered many details about those times in history, some that I even forgot about, which was interesting because it helped me understand that children can retain a lot of information about many topics. I was impressed with how smart these students were and it made my day knowing that schools are introducing such an important topic in the education system at such a low grade-level.

This impacted my teacher’s identity because I learnt that I can raise my expectations for many students for the grade level. Mainly because it will be another four years until I am done university and teaching my own classroom. Knowing that the education curriculum introduced many more history topics the students should be able to recall much more information that they are being given today.

I added a kindness matters image because the day consisted of Pink Day. Which is meant to spread kindness and stop bullying.
