Field Experience

Due to the unfortunate circumstances revolving around the world-wide pandemic caused by covid-19, I’ve never really had the exposure to see what a day in the life of a teacher looks like. However, I’ve experienced other fun activates with kids that impacted me tremendously on becoming a teacher.

Throughout my life I was always a dancer and had a strong passion for it. In 2018 I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to assist young dancers, and I believe this was extremely beneficial with finalizing my decision on becoming a teacher. Although it wasn’t in a classroom setting, dealing with a big group of young kids had many aspects and qualities a teacher needs/has.

A picture one of the girls I assisted drew me in 2018.

In 2019 I got my first ever job at McDonalds. Working there taught me many life skills that I will forever value considering I dealt with all types of people. Within the first few months of working there, I had the privilege to become a GEL (Guest Experience Leader). Being a GEL meant that one of my job duties was to do crafts with kids every Wednesday night for family night (I never knew that was a thing until I became a GEL). While doing crafts one night with a family made me realize how fun it is to be around kids and how the smallest things can brighten a kids day. The young boy even said to his grandma “Can she be my kindergarten teacher?” That really melted my heart and made me have the instant urge to become a teacher one day.
