My educational philosophy will always be growing, as I will always keep learning. I will continue to unlearn from my previous teachings and to re-learn to become a better educator and advocate. My goal as an educator is to encourage life-long learning and to provide my students with multiple ways of learning and achieving what each one of them are capable of accomplishing. My classroom will provide a sense of belonging and create a safe learning environment where I will encourage students to be proud of who they are and to stand up for what they believe in. In my classroom, I will collaborate with my colleagues, my students, their families, and be present in the communities I work in.
To ensure my students are taken care of in my classroom, I will implement mindfulness activities into my daily teachings. I will seek advice from other sources if I am not able to provide sufficient knowledge for them. Building ever-lasting relationships with my students and their families will make our educational experiences positive and trusting. Working alongside my students and their families is important to me to help build a holistic classroom. I want my students to leave my classroom feeling confident, more aware of themselves and their surroundings, and with a voice to question or challenge others ideas.
Becoming an educator involves advocating, adapting, taking risks, pivoting and being the most loving and caring person for my students that enter my classroom every day. It is my responsibility to create an inclusive environment and to teach to every students abilities. I know there will be days of struggle, but the joy that teaching brings me will outshine those days. As a classroom we will laugh, have fun, challenge ourselves, be brave, and help one another shine, while continuing a positive relationship with our environment and one another.
