Well, here we are. My first blog post. Gulp.
If you’re reading this, you’re likely in the same class as me (hi, friends!) or maybe you’re just curious about what happens when a full-time education student, mom of three, and long-time education assistant decides to take on a fitness learning project and start blogging about it. Spoiler alert: there’s coffee. Lots of coffee.
A Little About Me
I’m in the final stretch of completing the Bachelor of Elementary Education program, and life is definitely a juggling act right now – school, kids, essays, and now blog posts! I’ve been working as an EA for the last five years (and an Early Childhood Educator previous to that), and while I absolutely love my job, I’m so ready to step into the next phase of this journey and become a full-time teacher.
When it comes to educational technology, I’d maybe call myself somewhat proficient – as in, I can figure out how to use most tools as long as I have a solid internet connect and a lot of free time on my hands. I’ve dabbled with things like Google Classroom, Kahoot, and Prodigy, and if I don’t know how to do something, I’m pretty good at googling until it works.
That said, there’s still a lot I want to learn. I know ed tech can be a powerful way to make learning more engaging and accessible for students, and I’m excited to explore how digital tools can help me grow – not just as a future teacher, but as a someone trying to tap into their potential.
Blogging…..
Confession: I’ve never been big on posting my life online. My social media skills are somewhere between “I’ll get around to posting eventually” and “Here’s a photo from three years ago that I just found on my camera roll.” So I’m not exactly jumping for joy at the thought of doing a weekly blog post. But I have always enjoyed writing. I’m that person that’s always scribbling in notebooks or making lists, so this blog is my attempt to bring that love of writing into the digital world (even though it’s also technically a requirement for class).
Although I am a somewhat reluctant blogger, I’m kind of excited to try this out. I mean, worst case? I learn something new. Best case? I actually enjoy it and maybe someone out there finds it helpful – or at least a little bit entertaining.
