Blog #4: The “Good” Student

January 28, 2020 2 By Sydney

According to the article being a “good” student according to common-sense is a student who follows all of the set rules and does not steer away from them. They almost in a sense seem to me like robots as they do everything they are told and are always on time for whatever class it is and soak in everything they are supposed to learn. They are able to take it all in and can write about it on a test or be tested on it and can show they learned everything the curriculum wanted them to learn without a problem. IN a sense they are what everyone would call a perfect student which is almost impossible to be one.

The students who get the most from the definition of a good student are those who do not have anything to worry about such as if they will be able to have a decent lunch or supper or if they will get to see their parents after school. The students who struggle with things such as not having a good home life or have difficulty learning are not considered a good student. A student is considered a good one if they are what those creating the curriculum think the students should live in or how they live which is the upper class almost type of society.

It is just about impossible for the idea of a “good” student to exist because it is not possible. Some students need a different way of learning. For example, one student might learn best by having example demonstrated with them one on one where another person can easily follow the teacher along when he or she is teaching the class as a whole. There are also students who cannot go for hours on end learning the same thing they need a switch between things. This limits many students and hinders there learning as they are being overlooked and not included within. It is almost impossible to meet and of the standard that are set within the society back then especially now since we are always trying to encourage students to learn the way that they understand and include them in any way we can as teachers within the classroom.
