My experience in the Modern Issues in Educational Technology course has been immensely enlightening and life-changing. Engaging with my peers and our professor has created a vibrant and cooperative learning atmosphere. My understanding of the topic has expanded as a result of my classmates’ varied viewpoints and views, and the professor’s knowledge and advice have been very helpful when addressing difficult concepts. While technology has many advantages, these problems demonstrate that to ensure that technology serves everyone equally, we also need to address these issues.

I believe that children are being ruined by social media. Children today spend a lot of time on social media sites like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat, where they frequently view videos and pictures of several people. This can make them feel inadequate or insecure about their life. Watching reels of celebrities on different social apps and their luxurious lifestyle hurts the young generation. Instead of playing outside or having physical conversations, many kids are glued to their screens, missing out on important social skills and physical activity. Social media is hurting childhood because it exposes kids to a world that doesn’t seem always true or healthy for them
Another significant issue is Cyberbullying, which can make it easier for abusers to target their victims online with no instant implications, which can result in severe problems including depression, anxiety, and even suicide intentions. Bullies target their victims through social media, messages, or emails and this problem increasing day-by-day worldwide. No doubt, social media connects people, but it can also lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation and raise distance between the family members. Moreover, excessive use of social media, especially before bed, can disrupt sleep patterns. Poor sleep is directly caused depression which make the people more lazy in the workplace. I share a YouTube video of a school girl who bullied by her friends. It really makes me to think about this diverse issue.

But now there are a variety of online teaching tools such as Kahoot, Canva, Google Classroom, Canvas, and so on. I got to know about these apps in my previous semester in the class Online and Blended Learning from Professor Katia. In the previous class, Katia told me how to use these apps in the teaching-learning process. Teachers may show colorful diagrams, engage in classroom activities, and even establish connections with classes worldwide with interactive whiteboards, thus transforming learning into a global endeavor. Students have access to an abundance of material and educational applications on their tablets and computers, which personalize and enhance the learning process.
However, technology also makes it easier for teachers to comprehend the demands of their students. My “day in the life” consists of chatting on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Snapchat with people, answering questions, and providing information. Here is a breakdown of how I use technology, education, and learning in my daily routine.
Like others, I use various technology tools such as computers, tablets, mobile phones, and other gadgets. For example, use laptops to watch movies, make assignments, and other fun activities. The laptop also helps me to organize and store important documents, and communicate with parents. Sometimes, I use educational apps and games to engage the children in learning as I am working in a daycare. In the workplace, I take pictures of kids’ activities when they are going to a waterpark or any other place and share the pictures with their parents. By sharing these photos with parents, we provide them a glimpse into our everyday activities and help them stay involved in their child’s educational path.
How I Connect with Others:
Email: Through email, I share important updates about schedules, events, and activities at the daycare. It’s also a primary method for addressing any concerns or questions that parents have regarding their children’s progress or wellbeing.
Messaging Apps: My parents, friends, and other family members can be connected quickly and effectively with the help of messaging apps. Instant updates, question-asking, and ongoing interaction are all made possible by these apps.
Video Calls: For me, as an international student living far away from home, video chats are essential to maintaining connections with my family. Real-time communication with my loved ones allows me to stay emotionally connected and overcome distance.
