My Philosophy Statement

My educational philosophy is rooted in First Nations values and beliefs. I believe education should nurture the whole well-being of the individual; mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. It should foster pride in identity, understanding of others, and harmony with the natural world. Education should help students recognize their natural gifts and strengths, respect cultural differences, and learn values such as community-building, generosity, humility, kindness, wisdom, and respect. These teachings passed down through generations are essential not only for personal fulfillment but for the well-being of our planet and future generations. My goal is to create learning environments that honour these values and support students in becoming confident, compassionate, and culturally grounded individuals.

I see the classroom as a space for connection, storytelling, and growth. I strive to make my classroom a place where students feel seen, heard, and valued. Guided by the belief that every child holds knowledge and unique gifts, I aim to create a diverse and culturally responsive environment where all learners can thrive. By weaving Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing into my practice, I hope to contribute to reconciliation through education and help shape a more compassionate, respectful future.
