One of the most memorable parts of my ECS101 internship was learning about the Dream Broker program funded by Sask Sport. For those who do not know, it is available in four core/community schools in Regina st Kitchener, Seven Stones, Albert, and Coronation Park. It connects youth with access to sport, art, and extra curricular activities that take place outside the school day. This is especially important to recognize, because some families do not have the financial means to place their kids in these very important elements of life. We as teachers must recognize how beneficial universal access to these opportunities are and how they can help students build confidence and social skills. Here is a photo I took inside Albert School of a poster that identifies some of the opportunities that students can choose to participate in.
