Excerpt from my “Focus Questions” assignment:

There are many ways to bring about change. To honour the traditional lands that we are on, we as teachers should start the day off with a land acknowledgment. This demonstrates that we are acknowledging that we are visitors on this land and it belongs to the Indigenous people. Additionally, for the call to action, we can engage in meaningful conversations with family and friends about the truth of Canada’s history: we need to learn to think and view from different perspectives. Furthermore, we need to always be respectful and open regarding these painful and sometimes traumatic experiences. Our futures are tied together and we must work as one to enact change.
