Hello, my name is Cameron Ford. I grew up on a dairy/grain farm with approximately 140 head of cattle and 4600 acres, located about 5 kilometres East of Yorkton. In 2018, we decided to sell out of the dairy industry and stick to grain farming. The dairy was a real pain; we woke up at 3:00 A.M. to milk cows daily. Now, those days are gone, and I do not miss them.

I am the first on my dad’s side to split off from farming. My original plan was to pursue a career in crime scene investigation, but my Chemistry 30 teacher gave a speech about his life path that changed my plans. My teacher, Michael Chapman, told the class about how his father encouraged him to take a path he would genuinely love, which happened to be teaching. His father said, ‘if money didn’t exist, what would you choose to do?’ (I’m paraphrasing). That altered my plans for the future, and I landed on the same thing Mr. Chapman landed on. After that day, I paid attention to my teachers’ interactions and teaching styles and decided that was something I would love to do, so now I am attending ECS and on my way to becoming a teacher.
