Contributing To The Learning Of My Classmates

I want to provide a thorough explanation of how I have aided others’ learning in EDTC 300 as the semester draws to a close.

I set out to be consistent in my posting schedule and to make both my regular blogs posts and learning project blog entries interesting. Due to my time management and consistency, this allowed the opportunity for my classmates to leave comments on my posts. I believe that this has helped my peers because my posts were available to be commented on.

It was satisfying to read comments this semester that were encouraging and shared their thoughts and insights, which have aided me in my personal growth. In my blog entries, I responded to any questions that people might have had. I certainly achieved my goal of leaving a comment on at least three to five classmates blogs every week.

Throughout the semester, I have gathered screenshots of the well thought out and personalized comments I made on my classmates’ blog entries. To illustrate my contribution to others’ learning, I created a PIC-COLLAGE of my comments, responses to comments, discord comment and classroom zoom lecture comments and created a Google Slide to record them.

My Final Learning Project Post

I am finding it hard to believe that this is my last learning project post and that the semester is very close to ending. At the beginning of my learning project journey I was determined to play one of my favourite songs on the piano, ‘Vampire’ by Olivia Rodrigo, and sing the lyrics at the same time. I can say that I am deeply satisfied with being able to meet that goal and having fun while doing it at the same time.

During my learning project journey I used a range of apps and sites to benefit my progress. One of the main sources I used was the ‘How To Play Vampire Tutorial’ by Bitesize Piano on YouTube. This site and the app YouTube helped me throughout my learning journey immensely.

Below is the link to the tutorial video I used:

In addition to thoroughly explaining each chord and note that should be played, the person in this video was also able to describe the majors. She included a reference point and her own singing, which made it easier for me to remember the chord I was concentrating on. I was able to keep up with her since she moved slowly. While I was perfecting the chords, this video allowed me to advance on my own.

Week 1: My Learning Project Journey

This post included my explanation of why I selected Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’ and my passion for music. It also mentioned Bitesize’s ‘How To Play Vampire Tutorial’, which is the piano lesson resource I intended to use throughout my journey. The chords I wanted to finish each week were one to three chords, and my ultimate objective was to play the piano and sing simultaneously. In addition, I uploaded my first YouTube video showcasing my progress, which concentrated on the song’s opening two chords.

Week 2: A Useful Resource To Enhance My Piano Journey

In order to advance my learning project journey, I made the decision to locate a piano resource. “Piano” was the name of the free app I discovered. I also explained the features of the app and how it helped me along the way.

Week 3: Keys To Happiness

I uploaded the video to my YouTube channel after learning two new piano chords from the verse. Additionally, I discovered a YouTube video called, ‘The Piano Path‘, that helped me play the song on the piano by calming my hands. I was able to perform the song as well as I could without getting anxious by using this video.

Week 4: Accomplishing Verse 1

I made the decision to look for an app that would support my learning project. I discovered the ‘iMovie’ app and created my own intro which was a picture of Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’. I talked about my experience using the app and how it helped me. To give a more thorough description of the app and I included images. I finished verse 1 in its entirety and posted the video of myself playing these chords to my YouTube channel

Week 5: Two Chords Of The Chorus

I made the decision to utilize the ‘iMovie’ app and used my intro (a picture of Olivia Rodrigo’s song Vampire) once more to assist with my piano video. Additionally, I picked up two new piano chords from the chorus of the song on the piano. I uploaded the video of myself playing these chords to my YouTube channel as well.

Week 6: Completing Half Of The Chorus

In order to help with my piano video, I decided to use the ‘iMovie’ app and used my intro (a picture of Olivia Rodrigo’s song Vampire). I posted my progress video to my YouTube channel after finishing two more chorus chords.

Week 7: Completing The Chorus

I decided to learn six new piano chords for Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’ chorus. I knew I had finished the song’s chorus when I finished these chords. As I had been doing each week prior, I utilized Bitesize’s ‘How To Play Vampire’ tutorial video to assist me in finishing these chords on the piano. I uploaded the video to my YouTube channel and used the ‘iMovie’ app and my intro, which was an image of Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’.

Week 8: Working On The Piano Bridge

I finished five new piano chords for Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’. I knew the song was almost over when I finished these chords. Nerves were starting to set in after the eye-opening experience. It was also an exciting feeling. I decided to use the ‘iMovie’ app and once again used my intro, which was a picture of Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’, to help with my piano video. I posted the video to my channel on YouTube

Week 9: And I’m Almost There, I’m Almost There

On the piano, I completed the final few chords of the bridge to Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’. I uploaded the video to my YouTube channel and used the ‘iMovie’ app and my intro. I was able to complete these chords with the aid of Bitesize’s ‘How To Play Vampire’ tutorial video. In the coming week, it was time to test my abilities and the lessons I had learned along the way.

Week 10: The Long Awaited Final Product

This week was all about testing my abilities. It was an exciting and nerve-racking week. I found an YouTube video to help my warm up my voice before singing by, ‘Jacob’s Vocal Academy’. I recorded my final video of the entire song on the piano while singing simultaneously after a lot of practice and using my prior knowledge from the previous weeks. I uploaded the finished song video to my YouTube channel after adding lyrics to it using the TikTok app.

Week 11: My Final Learning Project Post

I’ve rediscovered my love for the piano after reflecting on what I’ve learned these previous weeks. I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment and was able to express my emotions through the piano. I was very happy looking back at my final recording that I posted the week before.

I appreciate all my classmates joining me on this journey!

The Long Awaited Final Product

When it comes to the development of my learning project, this is my finished product and creation of the song ‘Vampire‘ by Olivia Rodrigo! It was quite the adventure. Every new chord I picked up was a step closer to finishing the song, and I loved every minute of it. I made the decision to use TikTok this week in order to add subtitles and make the video easier to follow.

I warmed up my voice by using a video by ‘Jacob’s Vocal Academy’ before I began to sing. This was really beneficial to me because I recall from high school choir and musical theater that it’s crucial to warm up your voice before singing because failing to do so puts your voice at serious risk of harm. I haven’t performed since high school. Since then, the only other time I’ve sung is when I’m singing with my friends in the car and we’re having a great time.

Since Olivia Rodrigo is such a talented vocalist, I must admit that when I first realized I would have to perform, I did have a lot of self-doubt. I did my own rendition of the song, a cover, and sang it as best I could. Since the original does contain some inappropriate words, I made the language appropriate and omitted a few lyrics. I am pleased with my ability to persevere, even though it is challenging to get the ideal video (don’t mind my dog barking softly in the background). Since my rendition of the song doesn’t follow the original’s tempo, I chose to add my own twist and reflect my feelings as I played.

I appreciate all of the comments that have been left on my posts these past few week’s; reading them was incredibly comforting and encouraging. I hope you like my rendition of the song.

What Is AI: An Inside Look Of AI In Today’s World

AI is getting close to overcoming/overpowering humans completely. The ability of a computer or computer-controlled machine to carry out actions typically performed by intelligent beings is known as artificial intelligence (AI). This includes the capacity to see, comprehend, and translate written and spoken language, as well as to analyze information, offer suggestions, and more. It’s important to nurture a critical mindset in today’s society.

Different kinds of AI exist. Generative AI is one of the numerous types of AI that caught my attention. Netflix is one instance of AI that I have firsthand experience with. Netflix uses my individual show preferences and interests to estimate what I’ll watch next.

The AI software ‘SUNO AI’, which was released on December 20, 2023, is one tool that teachers and students could utilize in the classroom to improve instruction. I chose to give this app a try, and it included a ton of amusing and witty songs. This app offers a lot of personalized learning experiences. The goal of personalized learning is to adapt instruction to the unique requirements, interests, abilities, and capabilities of each learner. ‘SUNO AI’ is a generative artificial intelligence app that uses text cues from users to produce music, including vocal and instrumental tunes. Anyone can create music independent of their prior musical experience.

A way to use the AI app called ‘SUNO AI’ in a classroom would be for your students to create a song using the app ‘SUNO AI’ and critiquing the AI faults.

AI can be both helpful and an inconvenience; it can help you come up with ideas, but it can also violate workers’ rights and lack human validation and individualized thoughts. I believe it’s critical to inform students about the dangers of artificial intelligence before they utilize it.

♫ And I’m Almost There, I’m Almost There ♫

I learnt the last part of the piano bridge to Oliva Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’ this week. Since these were the final chords I needed to finish in order to finish/perform the entire song in the following week, I felt really accomplished.

I chose to use the iMovie app and my standard introduction this week. Since the fourth week of my learning assignment, I have been utilizing this app. It’s a great app to store and view my learning project videos to see how far I’ve come, and it’s easy to use.

Regarding the learning project experience, there is just one more post. I have to sing and play the entire song on the piano simultaneously, so this will be a challenge and a learning experience that I am willing and eager to share with you next week.

Wish me the best of luck!

What Is Fake News?

Fake news is common in today’s world and society. A little message or phrase can go viral in a matter of seconds. You can come across manipulated images of celebrities or other people, fake celebrity deaths shared by a troll account, and more.  Fake news can be poisonous. According to John Spencer’s ‘The Problem With Fake News,’ “it’s not going away anytime soon.“. This opened my eyes and made me more aware of what we as humans may encounter online. When examining a post that appears questionable, it’s crucial to consider when the post was published. From where does this source originate? What is this source’s credibility?

According to the NCTE framework, “one of the main information sources of the modern era is the internet, so it is essential that learners learn how to participate and navigate the networked world.” Before they enter the technology/internet era, it can be helpful to prepare our students for the advantages and disadvantages of the internet and how it may impact them as individuals.

This year, I am enrolled in a first-grade class for my pre-internship. These children are still learning about the internet and media, despite the fact that it is pervasive and well-liked in our society. According to David Brown’s ‘How to Choose Your News,’ “Unless you know how to read the news, all the information in the world won’t be very useful.” Students in grade one are frequently learning how to write, spell, and sound out words. It is crucial to address the prevalence of fake news in our society, despite the fact that they might not be able to read it. Instructing students on how to stay safe when posting anything online is crucial. Watch what you click on and ask yourself, “Is this the most trustworthy source?” or “Is this a risky website?” Before they make a mistake, it’s critical to educate the children about the basics of the internet.

Working On The Piano Bridge

I made the decision to learn FIVE new piano chords of the bridge for Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’ this week. I recall that I was only learning one or two piano chords during my first few learning project blog entries. Now that I’ve been really enjoying the song and the learning project blog posts are coming to an end, I feel like I’m more excited to learn the final piano chords and sing as I get closer to the end of the project.

When I think of singing and playing the piano simultaneously during one of my final learning project blog entries which is coming up, my nerves are beginning to get the better of me due to the fact that learning it will not be simple. I’ve sung the song a lot for enjoyment, so I’m fortunate to know the lyrics by heart.

I decided to maintain my iMovie intro, which I have been using for the past few weeks, in order to record my learning project process. I’ve found it to be very helpful in keeping me organized while working on my learning project.

Next week, I’ll be practicing the next parts of the song’s bridge chords on the piano this upcoming week.

Thinking Back On What I’ve Learned

During class we touched base on cyber-vigilantism, cyber-shaming, digital footprints, and the rights to have elements of our digital footprint be forgotten.

Cyber-shaming involves shaming someone for their actions and posting it online. It involves calling-out someone for their debatable actions. It also involves canceling someone, which means to fully disapprove of someone and cease to support them, especially if they have said something that you find offensive

Cyber-vigilantism. The widespread use of technology in our society and around the world has made scams and hacking more common.

Cyber-shaming and cyber-vigilantism have been very common throughout this decade.

We were instructed to look up our names online and see what we could learn about ourselves during class. Due to the slight variation in how my name is spelled, I only discovered two items associated with me. My name is most commonly spelled “Elise,” but my parents chose to spell it “Elyse” because it more closely resembles the full word “Elysium” from the Gladiator movie. My grandfather’s obituary from a few years ago and my Edusites were the only things I could find online about myself. I am grateful that my online identity does not present a negative image of me. Regarding digital footprints, I want to make sure my students are safe going forward because the internet can be a really scary place.

It’s not always laughter and fun with technology. It can be discomfort, embarrassment, and cringe at times. You’ve probably uploaded something humiliating and cringe at some point in your life if you’re a human. For everyone who wants to feel better about the embarrassing thing you said years ago, we have a collection of posts and embarrassing events that made us say “geez”. As an elementary school student, I can confess to sharing embarrassing moments from my daily life on Instagram and Snapchat. For example, the notorious 11:11 “make a wish,” and goofy-looking face selfies, and more.

The consequences of our actions can last a lifetime. Consciousness and awareness of our actions are important.

Completing The Chorus

This week I learned SIX new chords of the song ‘Vampire’ by Olivia Rodrigo on the piano. Completing these chords means that I have fully finished the chorus. We are nearing the end of our learning project, so I will need to pick up the pace and learn more than two chords to meet my goal of singing and playing the piano at the same time.

In order to document my learning project process, I made the decision to keep my iMovie intro, which I have been using for the past few weeks. It has been really beneficial to me and has helped me stay organized while working on my learning project.

I felt proud and excited after finishing these chords, but it was also eye-opening because I just need to finish the song’s bridge to finish the full acoustic portion of Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’. Having said that, I’ll be practicing parts of the song’s bridge chords on the piano this upcoming week.

I have attached my week 7 of my learning project video below:
