I am finding it hard to believe that this is my last learning project post and that the semester is very close to ending. At the beginning of my learning project journey I was determined to play one of my favourite songs on the piano, ‘Vampire’ by Olivia Rodrigo, and sing the lyrics at the same time. I can say that I am deeply satisfied with being able to meet that goal and having fun while doing it at the same time.
During my learning project journey I used a range of apps and sites to benefit my progress. One of the main sources I used was the ‘How To Play Vampire Tutorial’ by Bitesize Piano on YouTube. This site and the app YouTube helped me throughout my learning journey immensely.
Below is the link to the tutorial video I used:
In addition to thoroughly explaining each chord and note that should be played, the person in this video was also able to describe the majors. She included a reference point and her own singing, which made it easier for me to remember the chord I was concentrating on. I was able to keep up with her since she moved slowly. While I was perfecting the chords, this video allowed me to advance on my own.
Week 1: My Learning Project Journey
This post included my explanation of why I selected Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’ and my passion for music. It also mentioned Bitesize’s ‘How To Play Vampire Tutorial’, which is the piano lesson resource I intended to use throughout my journey. The chords I wanted to finish each week were one to three chords, and my ultimate objective was to play the piano and sing simultaneously. In addition, I uploaded my first YouTube video showcasing my progress, which concentrated on the song’s opening two chords.
Week 2: A Useful Resource To Enhance My Piano Journey
In order to advance my learning project journey, I made the decision to locate a piano resource. “Piano” was the name of the free app I discovered. I also explained the features of the app and how it helped me along the way.
I uploaded the video to my YouTube channel after learning two new piano chords from the verse. Additionally, I discovered a YouTube video called, ‘The Piano Path‘, that helped me play the song on the piano by calming my hands. I was able to perform the song as well as I could without getting anxious by using this video.
I made the decision to look for an app that would support my learning project. I discovered the ‘iMovie’ app and created my own intro which was a picture of Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’. I talked about my experience using the app and how it helped me. To give a more thorough description of the app and I included images. I finished verse 1 in its entirety and posted the video of myself playing these chords to my YouTube channel.
Week 5: Two Chords Of The Chorus
I made the decision to utilize the ‘iMovie’ app and used my intro (a picture of Olivia Rodrigo’s song Vampire) once more to assist with my piano video. Additionally, I picked up two new piano chords from the chorus of the song on the piano. I uploaded the video of myself playing these chords to my YouTube channel as well.
Week 6: Completing Half Of The Chorus
In order to help with my piano video, I decided to use the ‘iMovie’ app and used my intro (a picture of Olivia Rodrigo’s song Vampire). I posted my progress video to my YouTube channel after finishing two more chorus chords.
I decided to learn six new piano chords for Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’ chorus. I knew I had finished the song’s chorus when I finished these chords. As I had been doing each week prior, I utilized Bitesize’s ‘How To Play Vampire’ tutorial video to assist me in finishing these chords on the piano. I uploaded the video to my YouTube channel and used the ‘iMovie’ app and my intro, which was an image of Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’.
Week 8: Working On The Piano Bridge
I finished five new piano chords for Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’. I knew the song was almost over when I finished these chords. Nerves were starting to set in after the eye-opening experience. It was also an exciting feeling. I decided to use the ‘iMovie’ app and once again used my intro, which was a picture of Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’, to help with my piano video. I posted the video to my channel on YouTube.
Week 9: And I’m Almost There, I’m Almost There
On the piano, I completed the final few chords of the bridge to Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Vampire’. I uploaded the video to my YouTube channel and used the ‘iMovie’ app and my intro. I was able to complete these chords with the aid of Bitesize’s ‘How To Play Vampire’ tutorial video. In the coming week, it was time to test my abilities and the lessons I had learned along the way.
Week 10: The Long Awaited Final Product
This week was all about testing my abilities. It was an exciting and nerve-racking week. I found an YouTube video to help my warm up my voice before singing by, ‘Jacob’s Vocal Academy’. I recorded my final video of the entire song on the piano while singing simultaneously after a lot of practice and using my prior knowledge from the previous weeks. I uploaded the finished song video to my YouTube channel after adding lyrics to it using the TikTok app.
Week 11: My Final Learning Project Post
I’ve rediscovered my love for the piano after reflecting on what I’ve learned these previous weeks. I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment and was able to express my emotions through the piano. I was very happy looking back at my final recording that I posted the week before.
I appreciate all my classmates joining me on this journey!
