    Contributing to Others!

Contributing to the learning of others is something that was an important aspect of the class! I contributed to my classmates in a few ways! I commented on their posts. In these comments I left my suggestions and knowledge that I had. I answered questions to classmates when they would text or snap me individually! Below I have listed some of the comments that I made to help contribute to the learning of my classmates! In the weekly zoom meeting that I attended I feel also contributed to the learning of my classmates. Each meeting if we were put into out break out rooms I would have my camera on…

    Best Part of My Project

The best thing about the project is that no matter what the cookies looked like, if I failed decorating them or they didn’t turn out I still had cookies to eat! This was something that my family had also really enjoyed. Each week there were cookies in the counter for them to eat. Some of the reviews that I was given were “The cookie decorating skills are mid but these cookies sure so taste good” – Rudy (Brother) “Can this project take all year so we can have cookies all year round” – Kelly (Father) “Wow this weeks cookies actually look like you know what you were doing” -Jay (Mother)…

The Icing to Finish it Off!

Looking back at my learning project there are many things that to reflect on, some good, some bad and some that I did not think I would be reflecting on: My patience is very limited, I do not like to wait for things to dry and always tried to rush getting everything done. It is very hard to learn a new skill, it takes hours and hours of practice yet it still never seems perfect, and you never seem to be happy with the product you are producing! You are your own worst critic, I did not think that my cookie decorating skills were anything special but every time my…

    Barn Yard

This week I wanted to focus on putting all of my skills I have practices to the test! I wanted to stick to a theme within my final batch of decorating and the theme I choose is barn yard animals. Growing up on a farm I thought this would be the perfect thing to try and make. I found cookies that I wanted to re-create. The cookies that I found were on Pinterest. I was very skeptical when starting them, I did not think that I would be able to create something so cute. However, I am actually quite happy with the looks of the cookies. Overall, I believed I…

    Trying Different Things!

New Learning  This week I wanted to focus most of my time on learning about different techniques that can be used with icing. There are 2 techniques that I mainly wanted to focus on which are called, a wet on wet technique and a wet on try technique. Both of these were something that I have never tried and was very interested to learn more about. While looking at the wet on wet technique I read an article from Your Baking Bestie, I found this to be a very useful reading and gave me an understanding on what the technique is and how I to get best results. For the…

Everyday we use Coding and Don’t Even Know it!

Coding is something that I have absolutely no experience with! I decided to give the Hour of Code a try to see how I liked it! I have never really given coding a thought, to me it was something that I was not at all interested in. Hour of Code made it fun and easy to learn some basic coding and have an understanding of what it means to code. I completed a section and got my certificate. For me coding is not something that I thought I never need too learn, I thought that it was not important. After some reflection I realized that coding is actually a very…

    Magic School

One of my classmates has told me about Magic School AI. This is something that interested me and I wanted to learn more about so I did some further investigation to look more into Magic School. Magic school is an AI tool that teachers can use to create almost anything they can think of. Lots of teachers use Magic School AI to help create lesson plans, write IIP’s, communicate more clearly and many more things. I like the idea that Magic School can be used to help teachers in many different ways. There are many things that teacher can benefit from, having help with all of these things can help…

    Does Practice Really Make Perfect?

When learning a new skill everyone says practice makes perfect. This week I went into it saying “if I keep practicing I will become perfect.” However, this was not the case. After this week I still feel like I need a lot more practice This Weeks Accomplishments For my new online source that I learned from this week was YouTube. I watched many videos on tips and tricks that I helped me improve my techniques. I did not think that decorating sugar cookies was something that is as challenging as it was. It has posed me many challenges, especially because I have very shaky hands.   This week I continued to…

Cyber Safety, How do I Teach it?

When given the opportunity to take time to reflect more deeply on one topic that we have talked about, it gave me the opportunity to reflect more deeply on cyber safety. Cyber safety is something that I find very important. Before this class I truly haven’t given it much though or given a thought on how I am going to teach cyber safety. This class made me look back and reflect on my experience with cyber safety and how I was introduced to it in my elementary and high school experiences. Looking back I see things that I did not like the way that they taught us, they tried to…
