What is Commonsense?

Kumashino defines commonsense as what we should be doing. It is important for us to pay attention to ‘commonsense’ because the question in our head should not always be what should we do but instead what could we do. Using the ‘should we do’ moral imperative leaves you in a sort of constricted mindset, for example teachers often do not question most practices that are seen to be “masked by or couched in concepts to which we often feel social pressure  to conform, including such concepts as tradition, professionalism, morality, and normalcy. ” (Kumashino, XXXV). The understandings I bring of curriculum and pedagogy is that for one, curriculum the curriculum is the set standard of all that needs to be explored in school. It contains objectives, content, learning experiences, resources and the framework for assessment.  But after my pre-internship with ECS 303 I learned that it is just as important to teach what is not on the curriculum what I now know is known as the hidden curriculum. As for pedagogy the commonsense understanding I know is that pedagogy is your teaching style as an individual as well as the the understanding of teaching methods.
