Keep Fit and Have Fun!
For my second module in my PE 6- Alternative Spaces Class, I chose to teach students about fitness circuits. This topic is great because it not only is a lifelong skill they should understand but that it can be accomplished anywhere, anytime, with minimal equipment, or gym space for that matter. In the module, we examine the FITT principle, heart rate and target heart rate zones, and different exercises that can be done. The unit culminates with the students designing and leading their peers through their own circuits. Have a watch! What activities do you like to take part in to get that 30 minutes of activity in a day? If I had an older class, such as Wellness 10, I would actually have them create their own at home fitness video!
Hi Graeme! Your course module is very thorough. You’ve done a great job of setting out how you will introduce the FITT model to students and guide them through the process of creating their own circuits. I really like the way that you’ve included the assessment criteria directly within each assignment.
Thanks Amy! I usually try to give them the rubric beforehand so they can see at least the outcome attached to the assignment. I have incorporated the students as well in developing the rubric too, makes them more accountable I find to the criteria in it.
