ELNG 200 E-Portfolio Self-Assessment

I personally think that I have performed well in this semester. First of all, I have fulfilled my basic responsibilities as a student. I handed in my assignments in time and pay attention during the class. Then, I took every assignment very seriously.

In “Linguistic Landscape” and “Language profile”, I looked up a lot of information and asked lots of peole who know the information I was looking for, which make allmy articles were almost clearly explained to let people understand the importance of the project, and the article includes the title, author and date, and use correct citations and references, then I not only put the article on the website, but also provide a download link, which can be viewed from both the website and the document about my article. At the beginning of the semester, I was very worried about citations and references, because I have not been particularly clear about the format of the reference, and based on the prior English classes I took, reference has always been a point of deduction for me, but after this semester study, I can feel that the accuracy of my reference format has improved significantly. After that, the grammar of my article has been improved. At the beginning of the semester, my grammar is relatively rigid, although people can read my article, but they will not reads very unnatural. After a semester of study, my articles became more natural and easier to understand. Although because of the virus, I can’t go to university to face-to-face class, but even taking classes from a distance does not make me slack in learning

In the “Linguistic Landscape” I wrote, I chose Cathedral Neighbourhood. In this assignment, I checked the community website of Cathedral Neighbourhood to get the history of this community and get detailed street information from Google Maps. Then, I visited the street and took photos to find the multiculturalism in this community. Finally, I would This information is compiled and combined with my own experience to write this article. Then, in “Language eProfile”, I asked the professor for additional documents, and I also took the initiative to find some documents from trusted academic websites, and then I interviewed my mother to obtain information about her experience, and finally combined I wrote this article based on my own past learning experience. For the summary after all the courses has been carefully completed

I also have areas that I need to improve; I need to pay more attention to my choice of words and grammar. Sometimes when I was writing, the words or grammar I chose did not feel problematic at the moment, but once I start to read it out aloud, I found it very uncomfortable. Then, I need to check my article more times. Sometimes I don’t read it again after I finish writing my article. This makes a lot of problems that I didn’t check for the first time have been missed, and these mistakes reducing me score. Finally, I need to be careful not to be too nervous about ask questions. I feel nervous because I have questions about assignment, and once I am nervous, I think too much and start think about everything in the worst direction, but these problems can actually be solved by asking. Even for distance learning, I did take my study and assignment seriously. I have learned a lot in this class this semester, and I have worked very hard, so I think I am worthy of the scores I give myself.
