Week Five
I’m starting to get very sad that we only have 3 weeks left! On Wednesday, we had a few kids come up to us and give us hugs, it was really nice to see the kids are really warming up to us! On Tuesday the little kids made farm animals and today we got to put googly eyes on them. When the students were done, they would come up to me, my partner and the teacher and they would ask us a question about the animals. Some questions were quite funny, “why are pigs pink?”, “do sheep have ears?”, “Why do horses lay down?”.
You can tell the teachers/school know how to make the school’s diversity known and make the students more knowledgeable about it. You can tell the students don’t really care about other students’ backgrounds, you see a lot of them just hanging out together. It is a great thing to be taught at a young age that everyone is different, but you should still be nice and maybe even hang out with them. I remember out school showing posters to have orange shirt day, and I ended up talking to one of the teachers and she said many students wore orange shirts. There is a teacher that roams around the school while her intern is teaching and she goes around to each class to make sure that the students that need extra help, is listening to the teacher. She will sit and talk to them if they seem to be having a hard time.
