Week 6 – February 17/22
For our learning circle today, it was the first time we were able to get through the full 20 minutes and we had some great conversations. I feel as if everyone had a great amount of time to share their findings and their opinions. We talked a bit about parent involvement and we all had our ideas on it. I know personally, I would love to get the parents involved but it also comes with a bit of caution. Some parents get a little too involved by pushing their children more than what they may be capable of at the moment. We also talked about things that are not appropriate to say to colleagues, Tyler even gave us an unexpected example. Would have been a great time to have the video showing our faces. He did it as a joke but also to show us how it is sometimes.
Going over the miscue analysis process video and reading really opened my eyes to the assessments for reading. I know I was not able to find as many mistakes as everyone else, but it also helped me realize different things I need to look for more. I knew the basics like skipping over a word, repeating a word, substitution, but that is really it. I did not know about the non-response or omission ways of grading it.
