As a first year teacher, I underestimated the power of building relationships with students and how that can really change a lot of things in the classroom.
I believe:
-that all students need to be heard in the classroom.
-that students need to feel safe and accepted at school.
-that students need to trust their teacher
-that all students need to feel and be successful in their own way – no matter their ability.
-that students come to school with a variety of knowledges, competences, and experiences.
-that I need to be accommodating and understanding.
-that curriculum needs to be taught to students in a way that meets their needs.
