Hi there and welcome to my blog! My name is Kiera Brennan and I am currently wrapping up my first year of teaching. I am working towards obtaining my Inclusive Education Certificate with the University of Regina. I only have 4 classes left!!
I currently live in Regina, Saskatchewan and I am a proud cat mom to my super adorable cat named Katniss. She is a 9 month old tabby cat who loves to rummage in everything and take off the vent covers in every room in our house! She is the best cuddle buddy after a long day and she never fails to cheer me up. Just look at her eyes!!!
Because this blog is dedicated to sharing about my educational journey, I think it is important to share where I am right now in my educational life! I graduated from the U of R in December of 2020. From there, I was a substitute teacher with Regina Public School Division as well as Prairie Valley School Division. I was lucky enough to secure a full year placement in Prairie Valley for the 2021/2022 school year. It has been a crazy busy first year of teaching, but it has also been very rewarding. I am very lucky to have lots of support in the school and outside of the school to help me stay grounded and confident in myself.
Through my first year of teaching, I did not incorporate a ton of technology, but we did rely on Epic! and RazKids for our Daily 5 rotations. I also did rely heavily on Mathletics as well when I was teaching my split grade Math class (thankfully we worked it out so I no longer had to teach two grades of Math in the same hour!!). I am looking forward to learning more about how to incorporate technology in my classroom for my years to come of teaching!
