Power & Endurance

One of the biggest challenges I have been having with my rebounding journey is endurance. I read an article about how to increase endurance in exercise. They offered the following suggestions:

  • Overload- gradually increase the intensity
  • Aim for more than 150 minutes per week
  • Add in yoga to help improve ability to handle stress during workouts
  • Try HIIT training
  • Find exercises you enjoy
  • Stay hydrated – This one is hard for me! I need to remember to drink more water

I find that I can do a combo maybe once or twice in a row and then I get tired and forget choreography. For this week, I wanted to challenge my endurance. I selected an intermediate class that would have a bit easier choreography, so I could focus on the endurance side of things. It was definitely a challenge, but I think I did better than I have in the past! Here is my progress video from last week.

On a side note, I attended a class an person called “intro to advanced”. This was my first 45 minute advanced class. I feel like I nearly died! It felt like my very first class all over again. I also almost fell off multiple times. This taught me an important lesson: I can’t get too far ahead of myself. I think jumping right into a 45 minute advanced class is something I’m not quite ready for. I want to try challenging myself by doing longer intermediate classes to start getting my endurance up and slowly building my skill.

That’s all for this week! Your comments over the past weeks have been very supportive and help keep me motivated!

  1. That article has really good advice! I’m a cheer coach and I try to get my athletes to use those exact tips and teach them the importance of staying hydrated and safe while exercising. Looks like you’ve made great progress and have started to find out your limits and small step goals. Keep up the good work!

  2. It’s great to see you pushing yourself with rebounding and focusing on building your endurance. I’ve been curious to try rebounding myself as it sounds like such a fun way to get a full-body workout (and it would help me get ready for powwow season). I’m excited to see how your endurance improves as you continue to mix in longer intermediate classes! Great job!
