Who Am I?
I am excited to apply for a teaching position at Regina Public Schools. Seven years ago, I moved to Canada from Ukraine and this experience shaped my perspective on adaptability and the power of inclusive education. These values resonate with Regina Public Schools’ values on diversity and inclusivity and I want to bring them into my classroom every day. My goal is to create a welcoming and supportive space where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
I have a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Windsor where I worked as a research and teaching assistant. Working as a teaching assistant was very rewarding to me and made me realize how much I enjoy working with students and sharing my passion for learning and love for science. During my research experience, I published a few academic papers in peer-review journals that I am very proud of. After graduating in 2019, I focused on getting my permanent residency. During this time, I worked in the chemistry field and gained valuable experience that I can share with my students. Once I got my permanent residency card, I enrolled in the Secondary Education program at the University of Regina. I believe that my background in science and my hands-on experience will help me make learning more engaging and meaningful for my students.
Why Should I Be Hired?
Despite my experience and background in science I also very passionate about teaching and continuous learning. I believe that education is more than just sharing knowledge, it is about encouraging growth and helping students to see learning as a lifelong journey. I am inspired by Michelangelo’s words, “Ancora Imparo – I am still learning.” These words help to guide my teaching and I want students to also stay curious, ask questions, and continue to grow on their learning journeys.
After moving to Canada from another country, I understand what it is like to adapt to new environments, face challenges, and see the world from different perspectives. It helps me to connect with students from different backgrounds and create a classroom where they feel supported, valued, and understood. I want all students to feel confident in who they are and where they come from, and know that they truly belong to their learning community.
I also believe in John C. Maxwell’s words: “Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Building strong relationships with my students is a priority for me. I care about every student and take time to learn their interests, needs, strengths, and challenges to create a safe and supportive environment where they feel comfortable to express themselves, take risks, and learn.
I am excited to bring my experiences and commitment to an inclusive and caring environment to Regina Public Schools. I would love to be part of your team.
