Reconciliation is a word that may be intimidating to some. It is important to remember, however, that none of us are professionals in this regard. Reconciliation is a very complex topic, but it needs to be taught more proficiently by our education system. The book pictured above (Treaty Elders of Saskatchewan: Our Dream is that Our Peoples Will One Day be Clearly Recognized as Nations) was initially used in my INDG 100 course, but I thought that it was so thoughtful and educative that I would list it as one of my resources. Anyone who wants to truly understand what the numbered treaties represent needs this book. It features interviews with various elders, all of which have very insightful perspectives on the issues Indigenous peoples are currently facing.
