Back to Focus: Keeping Classrooms Phone Free

Keeping digital gadgets such as mobile phones in the classrooms leads to distraction. If I talk about my personal experience, we were instructed not to bring mobile phones with us. I as an educator, believe in the change that positively impacts society, for instance, technology is a powerful tool to search for any kind of information. Using Technology makes learning more enjoyable, and developing technological skills for the future. However, we should be aware of the consequences of using too many gadgets, and relying on mobile phones in the classroom is not suitable to give information to students. As a result, if the classrooms are mobile-free then students can concentrate better on the lesson plan without any distractions of their notifications, phone calls, social media, games, and messages.

A distraction-free environment will leads to sparkling outcomes with deeper engagement, leading to better understanding. Moreover, by interaction with each other, students will get to know the skills and manners that how to behave with each other nicely. Otherwise, with the mobiles phone, learners likely to spend their time only on social sites rather than actual communicating with their peers. Without mobile phones, students would like to talk with each other face to face that helps to build collaboration, strong relationships, and teamwork skills.

  1. I enjoyed your post and it also looks very nice. I can respect that as a teacher, a distraction free classroom is preferred. Do you envision a phone free classroom from K-12?

  2. I agree that phones can be very distracting! Social media can be very fun, but it is very distracting for students and so maybe what we are teaching is that the time/place for phones is outside of the classroom.

  3. Hello Nancy,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree with you that mobile phones not only distract the youth from their studies but also reduce their moral values and discipline. Maybe this change will show positive results in the future.
