Summary of Learning

Taking this class has been a humbling experience for me! As an Instructional Designer by trade I was confident coming into this course, but hopeful I would be able to apply what I learn into practice. Thankfully my hopes were realized as through interaction with all my peers and from Katia’s lessons, I’ve been introduced to new tools I haven’t heard of before, have a new understanding of terms that I thought I knew, and experienced new ways to utilize existing tools I knew about! Additionally, I have increased my understanding of important principles of online learning such as accessibility and community building.

A lot of what I learned throughout this course was through the collaboration and sharing we participated in during breakout rooms and in class larger discussions. Thank you to everyone who I’ve interacted with throughout this course as you’ve all truly contributed to what I have learned!

For my summary of learning I have recorded 5 short videos that highlight my key takeaways from this class , and provide examples of how I have applied my learning, or how it can be applied/why it is important!

I’ve decided to present this using H5P through Lumi (Lumi being another tool I was unfamiliar with but introduced to through this class!)

To interact with my presentation, first click on the arrow Icon, that looks like this “” , and then for each short video you can click on the plus icons which are labeled, and look like this ““.

Here is the link to Lumi to access it!

  1. Hi Rhett!

What an innovative way to do your Summary of Learning – especially using a tool you learned about in this class! I really enjoyed “finding my way around” the H5P and watching the quick videos of your key takeaways.

    Great work!

  3. This is so amazing Rhett…. I was really inspired by your course prototype, and I really learned a lot from your feedback. It’s always amazing when you are coming to a class with the confidence that you already have experience in that field only to realize that you really don’t know as much as you have thought. I love the way you integrated the H5P into your summary of learning. Thanks for sharing

  4. Rhett, I really enjoyed your summary—it was thoughtful, creative, and full of personality! You did a great job capturing the key takeaways from EC&I 834 while weaving in your own growth and reflections. I especially liked how you acknowledged the balance between challenge and progress when it comes to learning new tools and rethinking how we teach.

One thing I’m curious about: What’s one idea or strategy from the course that you think will have the biggest long-term impact on your teaching?

Great job wrapping up the course in such a clear and meaningful way!

    • Hey Allysia! Thank you very much. I would say the biggest takeaway i have from the course has to be the impact it will have on the accessibility standards I implement. I’ve learned many new great things in this regard, all that will help students have a better experience!

While we’re on the same team and our jobs are quite similar, I’m not quite on your level. Just like in the workplace I’ve been very thankful for the opportunity to learn from your knowledge and ideas in this course!

    • Thank you Josh, it is great working with you in and outside of the office! Our strengths play off each other and we make a great team! You’re very humble, you are very skilled 😀

  8. Hallo!

I just wanted to say what an awesome reflection and summary of learning! Your H5P Lumi presentation was super engaging and such a clever way to showcase your takeaways. I really appreciated how you connected your growth not just to the course content but also to our peer interactions,so true! Those breakout rooms and discussions really were little pockets of gold.
